In order to streamline its estimating processes, the London region of Kier Construction is introducing Causeway Estimating and CADMeasure. As a result, the company expects to enjoy around 25% time-savings at enquiry stage with similar time-savings on tender comparisons.
Previously, the company had been managing estimates with spreadsheets and was keen to increase efficiency by implementing a purpose-designed estimating package. CADMeasure will be used for taking measurements from CAD systems and paper drawings, transferring the information to Causeway Estimating. Depending on the project, this may also be combined with bills from sub-contractors in spreadsheet format, which can be input directly into Estimating.
“We looked at various systems and determined that Causeway offered the best value for money. The system will save us a lot of time and help to make us more competitive. For example, in dealing with last minute requests for quotation faster, we will have more time for ‘what if’ comparisons, so that we can fine-tune our quotes to increase our chances of winning the work,” Robin Tranter, Senior Estimator, Kier.
