The Isle of Man government’s Department of Infrastructure, Estate Shared Services (ESS) department has announced a significant expansion of its use of Causeway FM Facts CAFM software. This expansion will see both an extension in breadth of use and also the introduction of additional FM Facts modules.

The Estate Shared Services Department encompasses the Health, Education & Property sections and has been using FM Facts Helpdesk and Asset Management modules in its Health Section for many years. Following a rigorous evaluation of the options available on the market, FM Facts has now been identified as the platform of choice and these modules are now to be rolled out to the Education and Property sections.

In addition, FM Mobile will be implemented to improve communication with mobile workforces and FM Online – a self-service customer portal – will be introduced to enable requestors to log and monitor reactive tasks across all departments throughout the estate.

The building portfolio across the ESS estate varies considerably, ranging from large hospitals to converted dwellings, so one of the key criteria for the selection of FM Facts was its inherent flexibility. This enables each department to implement Planned Preventative Maintenance to suit their own building portfolio while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The flexibility of the FM Facts Asset Management module also proved useful recently when there was a requirement to introduce wheelchairs and other medical assets into the asset management system. This proved to be a very easy, simply requiring the addition of new asset types to the existing system.
