Implementing Causeway Estimating is helping Housing Maintenance Solutions to respond to complex enquiries in less time and provides the ability to manage sub-contractors with reduced duplication of effort.

Housing Maintenance Solutions (HMS) is a Direct Labour Organisation providing maintenance services to 15,000 homes managed by Liverpool Mutual Homes. Recently HMS has been broadening its scope to bid work outside this arrangement and recognised that upgrading to a proprietary estimating system would facilitate this.

Julie Greenland, Programme Manager for Liverpool Mutual Homes, recalled: “The spreadsheet-based system we were using was no longer adequate so we appraised a number of systems, looking at both functionality and value for money. It was also important that the system was easy to use with minimum training.

“Causeway took the time to understand our priorities, particularly our responsibility to tenants to gain best value for any investment. They then worked with us to arrive at a solution that provides value for money without compromising on functionality.”

Causeway Estimating provides HMS with a number of time-saving benefits to support fast turnaround of tenders. These include CAD Measure for automated take-off, the advanced search facility for quick access to historical estimate data and multi-user functionality to enable optimum use of available resources. Also, when the sub-contractor module is implemented it will streamline the issue of enquiries to sub-contractors and management of their responses.

The result is that HMS is now able to respond more quickly to even the most complex enquiries and provide its customers with a more responsive service.
