Durham County Council (DCC) has selected Causeway Alloy, our operational asset management system, and Causeway Horizons, our strategic decision support tool, to serve as its new Integrated Highways Asset Management System.
Committed to delivering exceptional services to its 530,000+ residents, DCC strives to deliver high-quality services for its community. In its pursuit of continual improvement, DCC identified the need to replace its existing legacy applications with a modern, data-driven highway asset management system. After conducting extensive market research, DCC has selected a six-year contract with Causeway. This choice is interesting because DCC already relies on Causeway one.network as its digital road management platform.
Causeway acquired one.network back in July 2023, setting the stage for a comprehensive, end-to-end asset management solution.
Now, DCC is embracing the benefits of this integration.
Together, Causeway and one.network are excited to enable seamless, streamlined workflows, not only for DCC, but for highway authorities, utilities and contractors across the country.
By adopting Causeway Alloy, DCC has unlocked the following benefits:
- Improved Decision Making: Causeway Alloy will provide accurate, up-to-date data about the condition of the road network, empowering Durham’s highways team to make better-informed decisions regarding maintenance and repair works. This will result in more efficient use of budgets and improved planning of capital work schemes.
- Enhanced Asset Management: DCC will be able to more effectively manage all their assets, including roads, footpaths, and streetlights by prioritising maintenance and repairs based on each asset’s condition and importance. This reduces emergency repairs and the risks associated with unmaintained assets.
- Increased Efficiency: By streamlining workflows and automating routine tasks, Causeway Alloy will free up time for the council to focus on more complex and strategic work, increasing overall operational efficiency.
- Compliance Assurance: Causeway Alloy will help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards, including safety standards, environmental regulations, and legal requirements.
- Improved Claims Defence: High-quality data will enable DCC to defend against claims more effectively, significantly boosting the likelihood of successful outcomes.
Causeway is working closely with DCC to roll out Causeway Alloy across their operations.
This will be achieved through a combination of blueprint adoption and bespoke configuration, as needed. The implementation will cover highway assets, street lighting, drainage assets, and arboreal assets, with full integration support provided by Causeway, ensuring every interaction is secure through our 100% cloud-based SaaS architecture.
In addition, the council will be using Causeway Horizons for forward planning and UKPMS.
We're excited about this new chapter in our partnership with DCC and look forward to seeing the positive impact that Causeway will have on their asset management and service delivery.
