With sustained pressure on construction professionals to work more efficiently, many companies are turning to Causeway’s CATO Cost & Programme Management suite. Throughout the world, cost management specialists in a wide range of organisations are using CATO to underpin a smarter and more profitable strategy for their businesses.
A recent addition to the CATO family of products is the CATO Essential ‘bundle’, comprising all of the modules required for day-to-day cost management tasks.
Many existing CATO users have already been quick to seize the cost and efficiency advantages of this subscription-based package (see below), including companies such as Dubai-based Hepher Quantity Surveying and project and cost management company Cumming – as well as cost consultants Amron Services in Barbados.

In the case of US-based pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, CATO Quickest(included in the Essential bundle) is helping the company’s project delivery team access historical cost data to quickly produce feasibility estimates for future projects.
In the case of cost consultants Matthews Southwest in Dubai, the Planning Integrator module provides integration with Primavera P6 and delivers all the tools the company needs for creating and maintaining integrated project plans.
BIMMeasure is another popular CATO module, and is being used by both the Government of Dubai and by Fairgreen Services in Ghana on the Ghana Airport project. BIMMeasure provides the ability to measure directly from federated or individual models and integrates fully with a number of CATO modules.
Maximising benefits with subscriptions
The subscription service option for the CATO Essential package offers significant advantages over traditional software licensing models because it minimises cash flow impact and maximises tax benefits.
Also, with traditional procurement, users would have to purchase separate licences for each module, which often led them to limit the functionality to which they had access. The subscription approach provides users with access to all of the modules in the Essential suite for a modest annual fee. Users report that having access to all of the modules in the bundle encourages them to make full use of all the functionality available, thus delivering better value for money.
